Hormone-FULL not Hormonal Series – Part 1 – Puberty and the Autistic Experience

10.00

In seeking research to support my clients, I was struck by how little existed on the topic of the interplay of hormones and Autistic women. This gap prompted me to design and conduct my own study where I invited 101 Autistic women—followers of my Instagram account—to complete a 28-question survey via Google Forms, titled “Hormonal Changes and the Associated Impact on Autistic Women.”

The responses were abundant, deeply personal, and richly detailed and form much of the basis of the information I will be sharing with you in this 54 page handbook.

This handbook explores:

  • The physical and emotional changes of puberty
  • How sensory experiences may shift
  • Social and identity challenges
  • Strategies for support and empowerment

Each section is written with the young Autistic woman in mind, at times accompanied by extra detail for those who enjoy additional information. This may be useful to share with your supporters (parents, medical practitioners, therapeutic supporters).

Welcome to “Hormone-FULL not Hormonal Series, Part 1 – Puberty and the Autistic Experience”.

This guide was created in response to the powerful voices of Autistic women who shared their puberty experiences — raw, confusing, and often unsupported. This is a space to honour those stories and support the next generation in understanding their changing bodies and minds.

A special thanks to all of those anonymous voices who contributed their stories to this handbook .. I hope I have done you proud.
